Welcome new and returning divers to our summer 2017! We provide a fun and safe environment for your children to learn or practice skills and develop theirs skills in the wonderful sport of diving.
Anyone with any amount of diving experience, whether great or small, is welcome and encouraged to try out the team. We will be more than willing to work with each person to teach them the diving skills they need to succeed.
Our main purpose is for everyone to gain an appreciation for this graceful, exciting sport, while having fun and most importantly, staying safe.
Please join us on Sun 6/4 at 5:30pm for a parent meeting to get more information in-person and meet our Head Coach Jennifer, as well as our Co-Head Coach, Anita O’Quinn, and Assistant Coaches Micheal Crotty, and Rachel Shogren… And please read our Dive Update “blurb” in our “SHARKBITES” SHRA newsletter which is posted on our website’s home-page (right-hand nav bar).
All our practices, meets, and officials’ clinics are on our SHRA website calendar, but just so you have the dive dates handy in one place, I’ve uploaded a document called “SHRA Dive 2017” under “dive team.”
Also, please note these special practice weeks at the end of the season:
- No swim or dive practices on 7/4 due to the Holiday
- Morning practices for Divisional divers only July 27-28 – same times as usual
- Practices for All-Star divers only May 31 – Aug 4 – times TBD by participants and coaches
Please check the main TEAMS page for the age group practices schedule which is different this season. We look forward to seeing you all again soon and welcome your feedback and questions (and offers to volunteer!). Sheri Crotty, email@example.com

Head Dive Coach
I am originally from the Annapolis area and I dove competitively from ages 12-18 for the Central Maryland Dive League. I also did winter/spring diving at Martin Luther King Jr., Montgomery Aquatics Center, and Arundel Olympic Swim Center in high school. Once I graduated high school, went to Towson University were I dove my freshman year. I coached for two years from 2006-2007 for my summer dive team and did private lessons. I also taught two years of group lessons at another outdoor pool from 2007-2008. I have taken a few years off from coaching because there was no high school diving in the county I taught in Maryland L. This past winter I was asked if I wanted to coach diving for Stuart. I was so excited because this was the first year I have coached only high school level diving. Outside of coaching, I am a 9th grade Health and P.E. teacher for Stuart and I am in my last year of graduate school at George Mason University.
Anita was an NVSL diver at Parklawn Pool. She continued her diving career at the University of Virginia. Anita was an elementary schoolteacher in Loudoun County, but has retired from teaching. She has been coaching diving since she graduated from high school, and is looking forward to a fun summer at SHRA!
Assistant Dive Coach
Rachel is a rising sophomore at Annandale High School. She is a competitive swimmer and gymnast, as well as diver. She has been on the SHRA dive team since 2009 and has attended NVSL dive all-stars for the past 6 years. This summer season, she is excited to teach other people what she loves-DIVING!
Assistant Dive Coach
Micheal graduated from JEB Stuart HS in 2015 and just finished his 2nd year at the College of William and Mary. Micheal dove on the SHRA Dive team for 10 years and was chosen for NVSL Dive All-Stars 8 of those years. Micheal looks forward to helping kids learn and improve their diving ability this summer!
Dive practices for all age groups are held after school until school releases for the summer. Once school is done, dive team will being to practice in the mornings.
Practices will begin the Tuesday afternoon following Memorial Day. Afternoon practices will continue until Fairfax County public schools let out for the summer, at which time we will switch to the mornings. Both afternoon and morning practices will be divided into four groups based on age, (8 and under, 9-12, and 13 and over), to help keep everyone organized and to ensure the maximum amount of practice time possible for each diver. During meets the divers will compete in four different groups based on their ages, 10 and under, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18.
Attendance by every diver at every possible practice is critical for personal growth and the teams’ success. We dive rain or shine! Make sure you call or check this site for weather related cancelations!

There is always a need for parent participation as it takes many volunteers to make these matches and meets happen. These are the major types of volunteer help we need:
- 3 Score keepers for each meet (no training required :-)
- help setting up tables and chairs and taking them down after the meet (no training required :-)
- 3 Judges for each meet (some training required)
- 1 announcer for each home meet (a little bit of training required)
- Collect $ at end of season for coaches’ gift
If you are interested, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up!
